Soap & Water Initiative

When I traveled to Haiti for the first time in 2003 I had no idea how much it would change my life. Now, over 20 years later, I can honestly say that experience has helped shape me into the person I am today. Two years after that first trip I moved to Haiti to join the staff of Clean Water for Haiti. A year later I married Chris, the Executive Director, and together we built an organization that has had an incredible impact on the lives of over 200,000 people.

Haiti has a water problem. Most water sources are contaminated, and there is little infrastructure. Most people carry their water home from whatever local source they can find - open canals, uncapped wells, and community stand pipes - one bucket at a time. These contaminated sources mean families have no choice but to use that water, and then battle all kinds of preventable diseases.

Clean Water for Haiti exists to provide Haitian families with access to clean, safe drinking water in their homes by building and installing biosand water filters. The filters are built in country by local Haitians using materials that have been purchased in country. It's a win-win because families get clean water and Clean Water for Haiti can employ people and support the local economy.

When you purchase from Pepperberry Soap a percentage of all sales will be donated to Clean Water for Haiti to help more families get filters. To learn more about what Clean Water for Haiti does, please visit www.cleanwaterforhaiti.org
